Prizefighter En Mi Casa

  On  the day of the fight the fight was  raided by the police  and  next thing you know the next morning there was papers   "illegal prizefight leaves local dead". El Jefe  was hiding though and no one knew  . One day Chula  was walking and heard crying  from this "supposed" monster , a guy  with  broken knuckles  and an old eye patch so that day right away she knew it was him she ran up to him and hugged him full of joy because she really thought he was dead.



 A connection I have is when Chula ran up to El Jeff and hugged him full of joy because one day my cousin had came back from his dads after 3 months and I hugged him and cried of happiness .

A trait I give Chula's grandma is very good lady , even though in the book it said she would talk a lot of smack she jus did all that because she cared very much about Chula .

Chula talks a lot about how Mexicans from her neigh hood " The circle "  can never get the chance to be anything which wasn't true to me  since they did have a upper learning program at her school. I think she  thought that because her aunt got pregnant and wasn't able to be in Princeton. The day has come El Jeff was gonna fight ''Golden Gloves'' and tio was El Jeff referee.You can tell momma was so nervous , shaking her hands and just screaming at Chula and Richi to set down , I mean why wouldn't she be if he lost she wasn't gonna get no money for the family and then they would become really really poor.You can also tell that Chula wanted El Jeff to win because in the book it said " I wanted him to win , I wanted him to lose , I wanted all us to go home and have a sopapilas with vanilla ice cream and pretend we didn't need him to be the cyclops. 


A connection I have is with Chula is ....I say I have  a connection with her because at first she doesn't like EL Jeff like she wasn't able to look  at him without being scared or eat around him , she never communicated with him either at the table when they would eat .I Feel like I'm like that with my step dad because I didn't like him at first but now I see how he tried to get a long with me and communicated with me more . Its like Chela and Jeff they start to have a bond in the middle of the story  also like me , me and her didn't like them in the begging but in the middle we do now and at the end we are going to be  close to them. 
In the picture of the book , the cover its  a picture of her and El Jeff and they look really close and happy with each other like best friends.

The prizefighter is Big “He’s like the Mexican Hulk!” they say   ( El Jeff ). In the book it says he has a reputation of killing the people he fights .In the middle of the box it says   Chula ends up fighting and EL Jeff  talks to her about it. At first Chula Hated El Jeff cause she was scared of him and just didn't like him but after that fight she started to like him , she noticed he wasn't as bad as she thought  he  was. The thing no one really knows about Chula is she has epilepsy, thats like having lots of concussions ,her family tries to avoid it a lot. I just had noticed something else , the only reason why ElJeff is there is because there family doesn't have a lot of money so there basically winning money off him. 


I see a theme coming , I think when El Jeff has a fight I say he's going to win because he's past stories about him fighting is that he usually doesn't lose . I think he's gonna win and end up getting lots of money for the family , I also think that El Jeff is gonna end up getting so close to the family that he's gonna end up staying there with Chula's family and being a part of there family.  At first I thought EL Jeff was gonna give up on Chula's family because he didn't  feel comfortable  but I don't think he is.

I noticed that Chula doesn't like going to school everyday (squareTown) , and that momma dosnt like Chula talking to her grandma about her past because one part in the book grandma had asked how school was going to Chula and about her past and right away her mom came out screaming saying "Is she bothering you abulea ".  Its like they don't like each other. Momma is very upset with Chula because in one of  classes she failing so her teacher is thinking about dropping her class and putting her in lower grade level then she was because she wasn't doing her work but she just dosn't do it ,she's really smart to be honest .The mom just doesn't   want chela to be like her brother Riche , ' getting no where in life " well that what she says.




A character trait I give El Jeff is  very serving . I say he's very serving because he comes to Chula's house and helped out her family because they need money. He didn't have to help her family , I  say that because he knew in the begging that Chula didn't like him , she wouldn't talk to him or even stare at him so Im pretty sure he knew but him and Chula end up becoming really close .

I Bearly found out something,  the guy who is staying at Chula's house is a fighter liker a boxer and Im guessing the dad use to fight because he got injured and then next thing you know the guy El Jefe comes into the family " to help '' , I know this because in the book it was saying that her friends were asking all theses questions about El  Jefe saving there family and winning a fight.


 In the book there is a conflict Person vs Self because in the beginning of the book she donsn't  like El Jeff , she had heard a lot of things about him so he has a bad reputation on him,  for example in the book it said he killed a guy in one of his fights. El jeff comes to there house and family to help them with money because thats what they need money.

"Prizefighter En Mi Casa" so far is about a girl named Chula (Esperanza), Richi the brother,  momma , papa, abuela , and El Jefe. There all a religious family , and One day some man named El Jefe had to come and stay with them because he was there" to help them", well thats what the mom was saying. There was a story about EL Jefe saying he killed 3 people for a cup of tea so right now Chula is scared of him. Momma is so religious that she tried to give El Jefe everything because in the book it says " the gods send him". Which I don't think is true , I think there just too religious. Abuela is just a quit grandma who also says doe crazy thing about god helping them and them acting bad well make the devil take them.


A trait I can give Chula so far is entertaning , she's like simple like unique out of other stores I read. This book so far sounds like a book about her and her families life. In the book she's a little sister and has a big brother who is always mean to her but she dosnt  let her self.  Like in the back he calls her names and she does too but in spanish.

I think the purpose of Shancie writing this essay is to let people know how her family is just the same as another.Just that she has different ways of celebrating there cultures and way of life.
